Murder Mystery Evening - June 2016

"The Captains Flat Hotel is an iconic art deco style hotel opened in 1937 in the old mining town of Captains Flat, about  an easy  forty minute drive from Canberra via Queanbeyan. The hotel retains its original 1930s etched glass, signage, wood work, tiles, furniture, staircase and cellar and has been fully restored by the new owners Tony and Vicky Holland. It is said that the hotel has the longest bar in the Southern Hemisphere. Ask for a hotel tour.

Our social group enjoyed a weekend there in June 2016 and we were impressed by the quality of the food - we had a three course dinner and a cooked breakfast the next morning - the excellent service, the wood fires and the fun we had at the murder mystery night. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms spotless and the tariff very reasonable..

I would thoroughly recommend a weekend or even a longer stay at the Captains Flat Hotel."

19 People attending a retreat - The Flat Hotel provided accommodation, meals and use of the conference facilities.

We held a workshop at the Captains Flat Hotel on the weekend of 28 January 2016 and are pleased to say we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and met all our objectives.

The rustic feeling of the old hotel, the good food along with the excellent hosts Tony and Vicky Holland made the whole weekend a great success.

I would recommend the Hotel as a wonderful place to get away from it all and focus on important issues.Below are some of the comments members of our group made about their time away.
.

  • ·         Loved it, really enjoyable.

  • ·         Perfect
  • ·         Enjoyed the rustic experience.
  • ·         A little out of the way, nice hosts, good food, but no phone service       made life a little difficult. ( Orgaisers comment - We wanted them out of the way so they wouldn’t be distracted. We don’t want them hanging on their phones either)

  •          Enjoyed the rustic experience and the wonderful hosts – wish them every success.

  •          I think the venue was excellent, out of the way, out of the comfort zone for some, excellent hosts
